Prepare to be mesmerized with Love Supreme by MilesExperience

I discovered this track on Soundcloud through Maude (MilesExperience vocalist Miles Bondoc plays guitar for Maude). I didn't expect to get hooked. I think I listened to this song 5 times the first night I heard it.

If sex was transformed into a song, this song would be it. The overall sound alternates between tenderness and roughness all while being dreamy but always hauntingly sexy. In contrast, the lyrics betray a certain romantic naivete, uncertainty and vulnerability - emotions that come across through Miles Bondoc's smooth vocals and makes you fall even harder for this song.

My Love Affair with Tide/Edit

It all started with a break-up.

Everyone said the first thing you should do is to go back to who you were before the relationship happened. It was so hard to remember who I was after being with someone for six years that the only thing that stood out for me was this - I was someone who loved music. It's rare for me to find music I can have a love affair with, but when I do, I fall hard. I'd play one album for months on end that my siblings would start to hate me. I'd buy CD's of bands I liked and go to their concerts/gigs. I even went as far as pursuing radio for a while to feed my musical inclinations. But that was then and I felt I was so far removed from who I used to be that I couldn't appreciate music the same way I used to.

In an effort to keep me busy, a friend invited me to go to Fête de la Musique at her friend's bar which will feature an Indie line up for the night. I'm more of a rock/alternative/pop kind of girl so I went not knowing what to expect. When we got there, the place was packed with people. Good music filled up all the empty spaces left in between. It was love at first listen and I thought to myself that, for a long time, I have never heard anything that made me feel this alive. A spark was lit within me and I was left wanting more. When the band's set ended, I wasn't able to catch their name.

When I got home, I googled all the band names in the line up just so I can find them until I finally had a name to match the music I heard - Tide/Edit. That one liner description in their website "We play happy music" sealed the deal for me. I was musically in love even though I had no idea what post-rock or math rock was.

Their album is called Foreign Languages, which is a very fitting title because Tide/Edit is so fluent when it comes to the language of sound that while their music speaks to me in a way I cannot translate - I can understand by way of emotions and feelings.

My new OPM Obsession: Maude Manila

After years of OPM abstinence, I decided one night to go to 12 Monkeys in Century City Mall to see Up Dharma Down. I've been a fan since my student DJ days at 97.1 (Back when it was still campus radio). They threw a welcome party for our batch and UDD played for us that night and we all left that place so captivated with their music and Armi's soulful eargasmic voice.

It was already 10pm and my friend was getting bored waiting for Up Dharma Down when a band came on stage and announced, "Hi we are Maude." They started playing and suddenly, the crowd was paying attention. Their music was so easy to listen to. I love that the lyrics are relatable and at times vividly poetic. The rhythms are catchy but never generic. And the vocals, real smooth and slick. It had just the right flavor.

Maude is Glenn Calingasan, Dane Policarpio and Luis Azcona

The guys are signed under Terno Recordings and their debut single Ride Your Car is so catchy, perfect for roadtrips or just car rides in general.

I've been listening to them non-stop on spotify, the entire album is worth listening to.

Those lovely wedding videos

When I get married, this song is definitely on the list for the video or the first dance or the wedding March.
I just melt!

"I love you I always have by Mikky Ekko"

 The strangest things
The mocking bird sings of loveYet stranger still the songs that he trills were born by a doveWell, I'll say what I mean even if I look foolish
I love you,I love you, oh, I doOh, I love you
Oohhh, ohhh, oohh, ohhhh, oohhhOohhh, ohhh, oohh, ohhhh, oohhh
Well the soul that I swingAnd the heart I'd bring are humbleIts you I want

Mikky Ekko Obsession (Yes, he's that guy from Rihanna's Stay)

This guy is seriously HOT!!! Look at that face, listen to that voice and tell me, how could you not fall in love with him?

One listen to Pull Me Down and I was hooked. The instrumentals, the pacing of the song, the vocals, the lyrics - it all just comes together to give you a sensory overload.

Pull Me Down (Mikky Ekko)

You may have also heard him as the guy in Rihanna's stay (which he also wrote and produced) or from that song from Teen Wolf.

I can't even type one coherent sentence.. Because MIKKY EKKO!
So just listen to him and enjoy.
